Get outdoors in the South Island, a land of mountains, dramatic fiords, and no less than ten of New Zealand’s 14 national parks. Adventure enthusiasts can hike the glaciers, while those looking for relaxation will find it among the lakes and vineyards. If you’ve come from the North Island, you’ll arrive into Picton, or if you’ve flown in, Christchurch will be your first port of call. Work your way around in a loop, stopping to admire the peaks of Milford Sound and the coves of Abel Tasman National Park.
