The only thing that can beat a sumptuous meal is a sumptuous meal with a generous side-helping of sweeping panorama. After all, what better way to enjoy a delicious dinner than to enjoy it while gazing out over a glittering cityscape, a plunging waterfall or even an active volcano? So if you’re looking for a restaurant with a view to die for, look no further...

Vertigo, Bangkok, Thailand
At the top of the luxurious Banyan Tree hotel, Vertigo is the place to come for five-star service and al fresco dining, far removed from the hustle and bustle of Bangkok’s streets, 61 floors below. Gaze across the skyscrapers to the Chao Phraya River while dining on lobster spring rolls or wild mushroom cannelloni. There’s a cocktail bar here too, perfect for sunset drinks as the city lights begin to sparkle.

Part of the Rayavadee resort but open to anyone, it’s a romantic spot, popular for sundowners. What could be better than feeling the sand beneath your feet as you feast on barbecued seafood and gaze out over the dramatic karst islands of the Andaman Sea?

Elements on the Falls, Niagara Falls, Canada
Huge glass windows frame the thundering torrent of Niagara Falls, just a stone’s throw from this understandably popular restaurant, which prides itself on delicious home-grown food and fine wines. Tuck into tasty dishes such as squash-filled bauletti pasta with baby arugula sauce and, if dining after dark, look out for the waterfall’s brightly coloured illuminations.

The Rim, Volcanoes National Park, Hawaii
Have you ever dined while overlooking a steaming volcano? No? Well, now’s your chance. Inside Hawaii’s Volcanoes National Park, the Rim restaurant teeters on the edge of the Kilaueau Caldera, an active shield volcano that glows bright orange after sundown. The restaurant serves up locally sourced Hawaiian specialities, as well as panoramic vistas of course. Try the coffee-rubbed lamb or the pineapple-wrapped fish.
